HERE AS an Act was passed in the Fifty-fourth Year of
the Reign of King George the Third, intituled An Act for 54

ford, and for removing and regulating the Markets in the said Town:
And whereas the Commissioners for executing the-above-recited Act
did, some Time in the Year One thousand eight hundred and forty-eight,
transfer—to-the Corporation the-Powers-vested-in-the-said-Commis-
sioners by the said Act: And whereas by the Actof the Fourteenth
Year of the Reign of Her present Majesty, Chapter 90, a Provisional
Order of the General Board of Health for the Application of " The
Public Health Act, 1848," except the Fiftieth Section and Part of the
Eighty-eighth Section
thereof,
to the Municipal Borough of Wolver-
hampton, is confirmed, and a Copy of that Provisional Order is given
in the Schedule (L) to this Act annexed: And whereas by that'Pro-

visional Order, as so confirmed, the Mayor, Aldermen, and Burgesses
of the Borough of Wolverhampton, by the Council of that Borough,
were constituted the Local Board of Health for the said Borough,
and some of the Provisions of the recited Act of the Fifty-fourth
Year of the Reign of King George the Third were repealed: And
whereas it is expedient that further Provision be made for the Im-
provement and for the Regulation and cleansing of the Borough, and
for the Maintenance and Regulation of the several Markets and Fairs
therein: And whereas such Purposes cannot be effected without the
Authority of Parliament: May it therefore please Your Majesty
that it may be enacted; and be it enacted by the Queen's most
Excellent Majesty, by and with the Advice and Consent of the
Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parlia-
ment assembled, and by the Authority of the same, as follows; (that
is to say,)
Short Title- L That this Act may be cited for any Purpose as "The Wolver-
hampton Improvement Act, 1858."
Commence- II. That this Act shall commence and have effect on and from the
mentofAct. Fourth Wednesday next after the passing
thereof.
Limits of III. That this Act shall for all Purposes be in force and have
Act* effect within the Municipal Borough of Wolverhampton.
Same Mean- IV. That the several Words and Expressions to which by the Acts
Words &c. wh°lly or partially incorporated with this Act Meanings are assigned
in this Act shall have in this Act the same respective Meanings, unless there be
as in Acts jn ^e Subject or Context something repugnant to or inconsistent with

Terms Mayor, Aldermen, and Burgesses of the Borough of Wolverhampton
in their Capacity of the Municipal Corporation of the Borough; and
