Western Valleys (Monmouthshire) Railless Electric
Traction Company and for other purposes.

HEREAS the running of trolley vehicles moved by elec-
trical povver transmitted thereto from some external source
for the conveyance of passengers and parcels along the routes
hereinafter descrihed would

of public and local advantage:
And whereas the persons in that l>ehalf in this Act named
with others are willing at their own expense to carry the under-
taking into exécution on the powers hereinafter contained being
conferred upon them and it is expédient that they be incor-
porated into a eompany (hereinafter called " the Company ") for
that purpose:
And whereas it is expédient that the other powers contained
in this Act be authorised :
And whereas plans and sections showing the Unes and levels
of the road widening authorised by this Act the plans showing
also the lands to be taken or used compulsorily under the
powers of this Act and also a book of référence to the plans
containing the names of the owners and lessees or reputed owners
and lessees and of the oceupiers of the lands required or which
may l>e taken for the purposes or under the powers of this Act
were duly deposited with the clerk of the peace for the county
of Monmouth and are hereinafter respectively referred to as the
deposited plans sections and book of référence:
And whereas the purposes of this Act cannot be effected
without the authority of Parliament:

May it therefore please Your Majesty that it may be enacted
and be it enacted by the King's most Excellent Majesty by and
with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal
aud Commons in this présent Parliament assembled and by the
authority of the same as follows:
PRELIMINARY.

1. This Act may be cited as the Western Valleys (Mon-
mouthshire) Railless Electric Traction Act 1913.
incorpora- 2. The following Acts and parts of Acts are (subject to the

provisions 0f an(i s0 far as applicable to the purposes of this
Act) hereby incorporated with and form part of this Act
(namely) :
The Companies Clauses Consolidation Act 1845 Part I.
(relating to cancellation and surrender of shares) of the
Companies Clauses Act 1863 as amended by subséquent
Acts:
The Lands Clauses Acts (except section 127 of the Lands
Clauses Consolidation Act 1845):
The following provisions of the Tramways Act 1870
Interprétation of terms;
Relating to the construction of tramways
(except sections 25 28- and 29) ;
Tramways to be removed in certain cases;
Proceedings in case of insolvency of
promoters ;
Tolls &c;
Byelaws by local authority Promoters
may make certain régulations;
Penalties may be imposed in byelaws;
Power to local authority to license drivers
conductors
&c.

Penalty for obstruction of promoters in
laying out tramway;
Penalty on passengers practising frauds on
the promoters;

Provided that the provisions of the Tramways Act 1870
incorporated with this Act shall be read and hâve effect as if
trolley vehicle equipment as defined by this Act were tramways
and as if trolley vehicles were carriages used on tramways.

In this Act the several words and expressions to which interpréta-
meanings are assignai by the Acts wholly or partially incor-
porated herewith hâve subject to the provisions of this Act the
same respective meanings unless there be something in the
subject or context répugnant to such construction :
The expression " the Company " means the Western Valleys
(Monmouthshire) Railless Electric Traction Company
incorporated by this Act;
The expression "the uudertaking" means the undertakin»1
by this Act authorised;
The expression " trolley vehicles " means mechanically
propelled vehicles adapted for use upon roads and moved
by electiïcal power transmitted thereto from some
external source and includes omnibuses engines cars
waggons trailers and ail other similar vehicles;
The expression " trolley vehicle equipment " means and
includes ail posts pôles standards brackets cables con-
ductors tul>es mains transformers feeders wires and other
apparatus and equipment for the purpose of working
and lighting the trolley vehicles;
The expression " the routes " means the routes along which
the Company are by this Act authorised to run the trolley
