An Act for settling upon the President, Fellows;
and Scholars of Trinity
College
in the University
of
Oxford,
and upon the Rector of the Parish of
Dumbleton in the Countv of
Gloucester,
certain
perpetual Rent Charges issuing out of the Estate
of the Right Honourable John Sommers Earl
Sommers, in Dumbleton, and for vesting certain
Lands there in the said Rector; and for vesting
certain Tithes and Lands belonging to the said
College and Rector respectively in the Mortga-
gees of the said Earl, subject to Equity of Re-
demption. [24th June 1822.]

HEREAS by Indentures of Lease and Release, bearing Recital
of
Date respectively the Twentieth and Twenty-first Days
Indentures of

of Sir
Richard Cooks
Baronet, deceased, and other Circumstances,
by virtue of which the said John
Cooks
was seised of an Estate for

Life in the Hereditaments therein mentioned, with Remainder to his
eldest Son the said
Charles Gochs
in Tail Male (but charged with the
Payment of the Sum of Six thousand Pounds, which had been directed
to be raised thereout by Sir Robert Cooks, the First Tenant for Life
under the Will of the said Sir Richard
Coclcs,
under a Power in the
said Will for the Portion of Dorothy
Cocks,
only Child of the said
Sir Robert
Cocks,
and to which Sum of Six thousand Pounds certain
Persons therein named were then entitled as Legatees under the Will
of the said Dorothy
Cocks,
then deceased); and further reciting, that
in order to enable the said John
Cocks
and
Charles Cocks
to pay the
said Six thousand Pounds, the said Joseph
Cocks
had agreed to lend
them the same, and that it had been agreed that such Sum should
be deposited in the Hands of the said James
Cocks
and Thomas Som-
mers
Cocks,
in Trust, to be applied for the Benefit of the said Legatees;
it was witnessed, that for the Considerations therein mentioned, the
Said John
Cocks
and
Charles Cocks
did grant and release unto the said
Ralph Tomlinson and to his Heirs, the Manor of
Dumbleton
in the
County of Gloucester, and also the Advowson of the Rectory and
Church of
Dumbleton,
and also all that the Capital Messuage or Man-
sion House wherein the said Sir Robert
Cocks
then lately dwelt, and
the Lands thereto belonging, and also all the several other Messuages,
Farms, Lands, Tenements, and Hereditaments therein mentioned, all
situate in the Parish of
Dumbleton
aforesaid, (which Description com-
prised or included the Manor, Capital and other Messuages, Farms,
Lands, Tenements, and Hereditaments specified in the First Schedule
tö this Act), and all other the Estate and Hereditaments devised by
the therein recited Will of the said Sir Richard
Cocks,
with their Ap-
purtenances, to hold the same unto and to the Use of the said Ralph
Tomlinson
and his Heirs, to the latent that he might become Tenant
of the Freehold
thereof,
for suffering a Recovery as therein mentioned,
which Recovery it was thereby declared should enure to the Use of
the said
Joseph
Cocks,
his Executors, Administrators, and Assigns, for
the Term of Five hundred Years, subject to Redemption as therein-
after mentioned, with Remainder to such Uses as the said John
Cocks
and
Charles Cocks
his Son should, in manner therein mentioned, jointly
appoint; and in defimlt of or subject to such Appointment, to the
Use of the said John
Cocks
for his Life (with such Powers as therein
mentioned), with Remainder to such Uses as the said
Charles
Cocks
should at any Time after the Death of the said John
Cocks,
by any
Deed or Instrument in Writing, to be sealed and delivered by him in
the Presence of Two or more Witnesses, or by his last Will in Wiiting,
to be signed by him in the Presence of and to be artested by Three
Witnesses, appoint; and in default of or subject to such Appointment,
to the Use of the said
Charles
Cocks,
and the Heirs Male of his Body,
with Remainders over as therein mentioned j and in the said Inden-
ture of Release now in recital was contained a Proviso for ceasing the
said Term of Five hundred
Years,
on Payment to the said
Joseph
Cocks,
Ms Executors, Administrators, or Assigns, of the Sum of Six thousand
Pounds, and Interest for the same, at the Rate and Time therein
mentioned: And whereas in Trinity Term, in the Eighth Year of-the
Keign of King George the Third, a Common Recovery (in which the
said Bryan Roper was Demandant, the said Ralph
Tomlinson
Tenant,
