The Air Navigation (Restriction of Flying) (Jet Formation Display Teams) (No. 2) Regulations 2019

The Secretary of State has decided that it is necessary in the public interest to restrict flying in the vicinity of the places specified in column 1 of the table in the Schedule by reason of the intended holding of flying displays there by a jet formation display team.

The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by article 239 of the Air Navigation Order 2016(1).

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Air Navigation (Restriction of Flying) (Jet Formation Display Teams) (No. 2) Regulations 2019 and come into force on 1st June 2019.

Interpretation

2. In regulation 3(1) the times referred to are Co-ordinated Universal Time(2).

Restricted airspace

3.—(1) Subject to paragraph (2), during the period commencing at 0800 hours and ending at 2000 hours, at each of the places specified in column 1 and on the corresponding date or dates specified in column 4 of the table in the Schedule, no aircraft is to fly—

(a) in any of the airspace above the area bounded by a circle having a radius of 6 nautical miles whose centre is at the point specified in column 2 of the table, and

(b) below the corresponding altitude specified in column 3 of the table.

(2) Paragraph (1) does not apply to any aircraft—

(a) flying within controlled airspace or within an aerodrome traffic zone in respect of which there is an appropriate air traffic control unit(3) if it flies in accordance with a clearance or permission of the unit controlling that airspace or zone, or

(b) flying in accordance with a permission issued by the relevant flying display director.
