HEREAS within the feveral Townfiiips of
Stockport
and
Brinning*
/0#,
and in the feveral Hamlets of
Edgeley
and Brink/way, in
the Parrfh of
Cheadle^
all in the County Palatine of
Cbefter%
there are feveraJ very confiderable Manufactories which employ great
Numbers of People, who contract many Small Debts, which in the Whole
yearly amount.to a large. Sum. of Money; and although many of fuch
Debtors are well able to pay their refpective Debts, they often refufe to
pay the fame, by reafbn of which rheir refpeftive Creditors are either
obliged to forego their refpeftive Debts, or for the Recovery thereof to
incur an Expence fometimes far exceeding, and in all Cafes greatly in Difc
proportion to the Sums in Difpute: And whereas it would greatly tend
to the Improvement and Encouragement of Trade, and to the neceffary
Support and Protection of ufeful Credit within the faid feveral Townfoips
of
Stockport
and
Brinnington,
and in the feveral Hamlets of
Edgeley
and
Brink/way, in the faid County Palatine oiChejier, if a more eafy and fpeedy

Body or Bodies, or again ft the Goods of all and every the Perfon or Per-
sons againft whom they fhall give any fuch Judgement or make any
Order or Decree, as to them fhall feem juft in Law or Equity ; and in
cafe of an Equality of Vot^s in any ASion* Caufe, or Queftion before the
faid Commiffioners, then and in every fuch Cafe, the Commiffioner prefent
who (lands firft in the Lift of Names of the faid Commiffioners (wRich
Lift the faid Commiffioners fliall and they are hereby required to hang, or
caufe to be hung up,"in the Court or Place where the Commiffioners
meet) fhall have the decifive or cutting Vote.
III.
And for better regulating the Sittings of the faid Court, be it

determined by the faid Commiffioners by virtue of this Aft, but between
the Hours of Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon and Three of the Clock
