HEREAS the Conduft of the Watermen working on the Paflage
between
Go/port,
in the Parifh of Alverfioke, andPort/mouth,
and Portfea, and to and from Hardway, Fareham, Portchejler,
Pal/grove, Wymering, and other Places within
Port/mouth
Harbour,
and
to and from.
Spithead
and Saint
Helen's,
and other Parts and Places within
the IJle of Wight, in the County of
Southampton,
by reafon of their de-
manding exorbitant and unequal Prices for the Carriage of Paflengers,
and their refuting to carry Paflengers acrofs the Harbour of Port/mouth,
and to and from Hardway, Fareham,
Portchejier,
Pal/grove, Wymering,
and other Places within
Port/mouth

of His Majefty, and other Ships and Veffels lying within the faid Harbour,
and at Spithegd, Saint Helens, and other Places within the faid IJle of
Wights in the County of .Southampton, and to and from the Places lying
within the faid Harbour jmd in the faid IJle of Wight, between Cowes and
Saint Helen's, has been long complained of and is now become a general
Grievance, and is a great Inconvenience and Detriment to the Inhabitants
of the-faid Towns and Neighbourhood, and alfo to the Officers and
Seamen belonging to the faid Ships and Veffels: May k therefore pleafe
Your Majefty that it may be enabled; and be it enafted by the King's moft
Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spi-
ritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled,

for putting in Execution the feveral Powers and Authorities ina,nd by this
Aft given.
:Mfeetin~s of H. And be it further enabled, That the faid Commiffioners, or any
Cojoiniifion- Seven or more of them, are hereby empowered and required to meet oa
the Firft Tuefday in the Months of July, November, and March in each
Year, at fome convenient Place within the faid Borough of Gofport or
Borough of Portfmouth, to be appointed by the faid Commiffioners, fuch
Meetings to be alternately held at the faid Borough of
Gofport
and Borough
of Portfmouth; the Firft Meeting of the faid Commiffioners to be held at
the India Arms Inn in Gofport, on the Firft Tuefday in July next-after the
paffing of this -Act, and the faid Commiffioners, or any Seven or more of
them, (hall and may, if they -(hall fee fit, from 'Time to Time adjourn
fuch Meetings, or any or either of them, in fuch Maniier and to fuch
Time .as: they .-(hall think proper; and that the Commiffioners, or any
Setfert or more of them, at fuch Firft Meeting to ht holden as aforefaid3
cratany Adjournment or Adjournments
