HEREAS a Provisional Order made by the Minister

force whatever until the confirmation

And whereas
it
is expedient that the Provisional Order made
by the Minister
of
Transport under the said Act and set
out
in
the schedule
to
this Act be confirmed by Act
of
Parliament:
Be it therefore enacted by the King’s most Excellent Majesty
by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and
Temporal and Comm6ns
in
this present Parliament assembled
and by the authority
of
the same as follows:-

SCHEDULE.
WORTHING
PIER.
Order
for
the tran$er
of
the undertaking
of
the Worthing
Pier Comparhy Limited to the Mayor Aldermen and
Burgesses
of
the Borough
of
Worthing and
for
other purposes
in
connexion therewith.
Preliminary.
l.--(l)
This Order may be cited as the Worthing Pier Order 1920.
(2) This Order shall come into force upon the day when the Act
confirming this Order is passed and that day is in this Order referred
to
as
“
the commencement
of
this Order.”
2.-(1) In this Order unless the context otherwise requires-

title
and
com-
mencement.
Definitions.
“
The Corporation
”
means the mayor aldermen and burgesses
“
The borough
”
means the borough
of
Worthing
;
“The town clerk” means the town clerk of the borough;
“
The borough fund
”
and
‘‘
the borough rate
”
mean respectively
the borough fund and borough rate
of
the borough;
‘‘
The company
”
means the Worthing Pier Company Limited
;
“
The purchase agreement
”
means the agreement dated the
eighth day
of
November nineteen hundred and nineteen
and made between the company of the one part and the
Corporation
of
the other part a copy
of
which
is
set forth
in the First Schedule
to
this Order;
of the borough
of
Worthing;
“
The Order
of
1889
”
means the Worthing Pier Order 1889
;
“The Order of 1910” means the Worthing Pier Order 1910;
“The Harbours Clauses Act 1847” means the Harbours Docks
“
The pier
”
means the existing pier and works
of
the company
;
“The pier undertaking” means and includes the pier and the
assets
and
undertaking of the conipany comprised in the
purchase agreement and
also
all
the rights
to
levy rates
tolls
and other charges and all other rights conferred
on
the Corporation
by
this Order and the entire undertaking
of
the Corporation in connexion with the pier;
and Piers Clauses Act 1847
