An Act for regulating legal Proceedings by or
against the Northern Coal Mining Company, for
enabling the Company to appoint One Board of
Directors in lieu of Two independent Boards,
and for removing Restrictions in the Choice of
Directors. [13th May 1842.]

HEREAS a Number of Persons some Time since formed
themselves into a Company, under the Style or Title of
" The Northern Coal Mining Company," for the Purpose
of working Collieries and Coal Mines, and selling the Produce
thereof:
And whereas by the Deed of Settlement of the said Com-
pany, bearing Date the First Day of June One thousand eight hun-
dred and thirty-eight, divers Rules and Regulations were established
for the Conduct and Management of the Affairs of the said Com*
pany. and amongst other Things it was provided, that there should
be Nine Directors of the Company, of whom Three were to be
resident in or near the City of London, and to be called by the Name
of the " London Board of Directors," and the other Six were to be
