CHAPTER lxv.
An Act to confirm certain provisional orders of
A.D.
1933.
the Minister of Health, relating to the counties
of the Isle of Ely the Parts of Holland and
Norfolk and the borough of Wisbech.

HEREAS under the provisions of the Local Govern-

ment Act 1888 the Minister of Health has made Vict. c.
41.
certain provisional orders which need confirmation by
Parliament:
Be it therefore enacted by the King's most Excellent
Majesty by and with the advice and consent of the Lords
Spiritual and Temporal and Commons in this present
Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same
as follows:
1.
The orders of the Minister of Health which as

hereby confirmed and shall have full validity and force. confirmed-

This Act may be cited as the Ministry of Short tit,e-

SCHEDULE.

Provisional order
made in pursuance of the Local
Govern-
ment
Act
1888 altering county boundaries
and
extending
a
borough.
WHEREAS by section 54 of the Local Government Act 1888
the Minister of Health is empowered to make a provisional order
for the alteration of the boundary of a county or a borough;
And whereas the existing parishes entered in the first column
of the first schedule to this order form part of the administrative
county of the Isle of Ely and the existing parishes entered in the
first column of the second schedule to this order form part of the
administrative county of Norfolk;
And whereas a joint representation has been made to the
Minister of Health by the county councils of the Isle of Ely and
Norfolk that it is desirable that portions of the common boundary
of the administrative counties of the Isle of Ely and Norfolk
should be altered so as to follow the centre of the River Nene
or the Wisbech Canal and that accordingly parts of certain
parishes should be transferred from one administrative county to
the other administrative county;
And whereas in the joint representation it was requested
that a part of the urban district of Walsoken in the administrative
county of Norfolk and of the rural parish of Emneth in the same
county should be added to the borough of Wisbech in the
administrative county of the Isle of Ely and that the urban
district of Walsoken should be abolished;
And whereas by a further representation made to the
Minister of Health by the county council of the Isle of Ely it was
requested that an additional part of the rural parish of Emneth
should be added to the borough of Wisbech and that a part of
the rural parish of Upwell in the administrative county of the
Isle of Ely should be transferred to the administrative county of
Norfolk and to the rural parish of Upwell in that county :
Now therefore the Minister of Health in pursuance of the
powers given to him by section 54 of the Local Government Act

1.
This order may be cited as the Isle of Ely and Norfolk Short title.
Order 1933.
2.—(1) In this order unless the context otherwise Interpreta-

tion.
" county " means an administrative county;
" existing " means existing immediately before the appointed
day;
" road" means a highway repairable by the inhabitants
at large and includes any bridge so repairable carrying
the road;
" the Act of 1888 " means the Local Government Act 1888;
" the appointed day " means the first day of April nineteen
hundred and thirty-four;
" the county councils " means the county councils of the
Isle of Ely and Norfolk;
" the Ely areas " means those parts of the existing parishes
entered in the first column of the first schedule which
are distinguished on the maps by the colour mentioned
in the second column of that schedule opposite the
name of the parish and are transferred to the county
of Norfolk;
" the Norfolk areas " means those parts of the existing
parishes entered in the first column of the second
schedule which are distinguished on the maps by the
colour mentioned in the second column of that schedule
opposite the name of the parish and are transferred to
the county of the Isle of Ely;
" the main sewerage board" means the Wisbech and
Walsoken main sewerage board;
" the maps " means the triplicate maps marked " Map
referred to in the Isle of Ely and Norfolk Order 1933 "
and sealed with the official seal of the Minister;
" the Minister " means the Minister of Health;
" the Municipal Corporations Acts " means the Municipal
Corporations Act 1882 and the Acts amending and
