Company, for extending the Time for com-
pleting Extension to
Farnborough ;
and for other
Purposes.

HEREAS by the Act (Public and General) passed in the
Ninth and Tenth Years of the Reign of Her Majesty, Chapter
Thirty-eight, being an Act for the Formation of
Battersea Park,
the Commissioners of Her Majesty's Woods, Forests, Land Revenues,
Works, and Buildings were authorized to enclose and embank so much of
the Shore and of the Ground and Soil of the River
Thames,
on the Right
Bank thereof, as bounded or was adjacent to the Hereditaments therein
specified (including the Pieces of Land or Part thereof to which this Act
relates), and to stop up, remove, or alter any Piers, Stairs, Harris, or

-Landing Places on so much of the said Right Bank as bounded the
same Hereditaments as should be necessary for that Purpose, and
to
construct Piers, Stairs, Hards, or Landing Places at such Part or Parts
of such Embankment, and the Ground and Soil so to be embanked, as
were in the said Act described : And whereas by the Act (Public and
General) passed in the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Years of the Reign of
Her Majesty, Chapter Seventy-seven, it was enacted that the Com-
missioners for the Time being of Her Majesty's Woods, Forests, Land
Revenues, Works, and Buildings should, after the passing of such Act,
or in the event of the Offices of the Commissioners of Her Majesty's
Woods, Forests, and Land Revenues being separated from the
Offices of the Commissioners of Her Majesty's Works and Buildings,
then the Commissioners for the Time being of Her Majesty's Works
and Public Buildings should, after such Separation of Offices, be the
Commissioners for carrying the last-recited Act and the Act now in
recital into execution, and should be incorporated by the Name
and Style of the
Battersea Park
Commissioners (in this Act called
the Commissioners): And whereas by the Act (Public
and
General)
passed in the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Years of the Reign of
Her
Majesty, Chapter Forty-two, the Offices of the Commissioners of Her
Majesty's Woods, Forests, and Land Revenues were separated from the
Offices of Commissioners of Her Majesty's Works and Public Buildings:
And whereas by " The
"
the
West End of London and Crystal Palace
Railway Company
(in this Act called " the Company ") were incorporated and authorized
to construct certain Railways and Works (in this Act called the
Crystal Palace
Railway) terminating near the South End of the Bridge
then in the course of Erection across the River
Thames,
to lead from
Chelsea
to
Battersea Park,
and also to construct a Wharf and Landing
Place near to or adjoining the South End of such Bridge ; but it was
provided that it should not be lawful for the Company to construct the
said Wharf or Landing Place, or to purchase, take, use, enter upon,
or otherwise
interfere
with any Lands, Tenements, or Hereditaments
vested in or authorized to be acquired by the Commissioners, without the
Consent in Writing of the Commissioners or of 'the Chief Commissioner
for the Time being of Her Majesty's Works and Public Buildings first
had and obtained ; and it was provided that it should be lawful for
the Commissioners to demise and lease to the Company, and for the
Company to take and hold, for such Term or Number of Years, and
at such annual Rent, or on such other Terms as might then have been
or might thereafter be agreed upon between the Commissioners and the
Company, such of the Lands, Tenements, and Hereditaments so vested in.
the Commissioners, or acquired or authorized to be acquired by them, as
might be required by the Company for the Purpose of their Works : And'
whereas the Company, for the Purpose of constructing the Railway,
Wharf, and Landing Place so authorized to be constructed by them as
aforesaid, required certain Pieces of Land belonging to and vested in the
Commissioners,
