CHAPTER cxxii.
An Act to empower the mayor aldermen and,
A.D.
1925.
burgesses of the borough of Walsall to provide
and work trolley vehicles on further routes to
jempower them to purchase lands for various
purposes and to confer further powers with
regard to the improvement of the borough and
the consolidation of rates and for other purposes.

HERE AS the mayor aldermen and burgesses of the
borough of Walsall (in this Act called "the Cor-
poration") are the1 owners of and work tramways and
are authorised to work vehicles adapted for use upon
roads without rails and moved by electrical power
transmitted thereto from some external source, (in this
Act called " trolley vehicles") and omnibuses in the
borough of Walsall (in this Act called "the borough")
and the neighbourhood thereof :
And whereas it is expedient to empower the Cor-
poration to provide and work trolley vehicles along the
routes in the borough along which the Corporation are
authorised to construct and work tramways and along
certain other routes within and beyond the borough :
And whereas it is expedient to make further pro-
vision with regard to the tramways trolley vehicles and
omnibuses of the Corporation :

1925. And whereas it is expedient to confer upon the
- Corporation power to purchase the lands referred to in
this Act for the several purposes mentioned in this Act:
And whereas it is expedient that the powers of the
Corporation with regard to buildings sewers drains the
prevention of disease sanitary matters slaughter-houses
and the good government of the borough should be
extended as by this Act provided :
And whereas it is- expedient to appoint the Corpora-
tion acting by the council overseers of the parish of
Walsall and to make provision for the consolidation of
the rates levied in the borough :
And whereas it is expedient that the other provisions
contained in this Act should be enacted :
And whereas the purposes of this Act cannot be
effected without the. authority of Parliament:
And whereas estimates have been prepared by the
Corporation for the purposes hereinafter mentioned and
such estimates are as follows : £
For the provision of trolley vehicles - - 42,500
For the provision of the electrical equipment
and the construction of works necessary
for working trolley vehicles - 21,500
For the erection of buildings for the purpose -
of trolley vehicles ----- 3,500
For reconstruction and reinstatement of
roads on certain trolley vehicle routes - 24,000
For and in connection with the purchase of
land - - - - - -
- 39,000
And whereas the several works included in such
estimates are permanent works and it is expedient that
the cost thereof should be spread over a term of years :
And whereas in relation to the promotion of the
Bill for this Act the requirements of the Borough Funds
Acts 1872 and 1903 have been observed : '
And whereas plans showing the lands required or
which may be taken for the purposes or under the powers
of this Act and also a book of reference containing the
names of the owners and lessees or reputed owners and
lessees and of the occupiers Of such lands were

deposited with the clei'k of the peace for the county of A.D. 1925.
Stafford which plans and book of reference are in this
Act respectively referred to as the deposited plans and
book of reference:
May it therefore please Your Majesty that it may be
enacted and be it enacted by the King's most Excellent
Majesty by and with the advice and consent of the
Lords Spiritual and Temporal and Commons in this
present Parliament assembled and by the authority of
the same as follows :
PART I.
PRELIMINARY.
1.
This Act may be cited as the Walsall Corporation Short title.
Act 1925.
2.
This Act is divided into Parts as follows : Division of
Part I.—Preliminary. Parte^
Part II.—Trolley vehicles tramways and omni-
buses.
Part III.—Lands.
Part IV.—Buildings sewers drains and sanitary
provisions.
Part V.—Recreation grounds &c.
Part VI.—Rating provisions.
Part VII.—Finance and miscellaneous.
3.
The Lands Clauses Acts (so far as the same are Incorpora-
applicable for the purposes and are not inconsistent with tion of Acts,
the provisions of this Act) are hereby incorporated with
this Act with the following exception and modification :
(a) Section 127 of the Lands Clauses Consolidation
Act 1845 (relating to the sale of superfluous
lands) is not incorporated with this Act;
(b) The bond required by section 85 of the Lands
Clauses Consolidation Act 1845 shall be under
the corporate seal of the Corporation and shall
be sufficient without the addition of the sureties
mentioned in that section.
