And whereas the said
Waktfield,
Pontefract,
and
Goole
Railway Company have proceeded to put the said Act
into
cxecution
:
And whereas it
is
expedient that the said WctkeJield, Pontejiiact,
and
GooZe'Railway Company should be authorized to construct a Jetty in
the River
Ouse
at the Terminus
of
the
XIiufleton
Bight Branch
of
their Railway, and
to
provide a Station, Coal Staiths, Landing Places,
and other Conveniences, with proper Roads and Approaches thereto,
at the said Terminus
of
the said Branch Railway
:
And whereas the

And whereas an Act
was
passed
in the Ninth Year
of
the Reign
of
His
Majesty King
George
Fourth,

Act to enable the Undertakers

the Navigation

Calder

the West Riding

the
Count-y
of
York
to
nzake certain Cuts

Canals, and to improve the said Ncivi-
gation

And whereas the said Undertakers have, by virtue of
the
said Acts passed in the First and Ninth Years of the Reign
of'
King
George
Fourth, purchased (amongst other things) all the Lands in
the Township of
Goole
aforesaid, lying
on
the North Side
of
the
Dutch
River, and also other Lands
of
considerable Extent in the
Township
of'
Hook
aforesaid, upon Part of which Lands in each
of
the same Townships they have, in pursuance
of
the same Acts or oce
of them, constructed divers extensive Docks, Whaifs, Quays, Ware-
houses, and other Works and Conveniences for Shipping, and other
Parts of which Lands still remain vested in the said Undertakers or
their Trustees for the Uses and Purposes of the
same
Acts
:
And
whereas
it
will be for the public Convenience and Advantage,. and
also
for the mutual Benefit as well of the Undertakers
as
of
the said
Wake-
.field, Pontefract, and Goole
Railway Company, that the Means provided
at
the said Port for the Reception and Security of Ships or Vessels,
and
of
Goods, Cattle, Minerals, and other Articles, should be preserved
undiminished
:
And whereas, in order effectually and conveniently
to
carry into effect the several Objects and Purposes aforesaid, and
for
the Protection and Security of the said Undertakers, it
is
expedient
to invest the said Undertakers with the several Rights and Powers,
but subject nevertheless to the several Restrictions and Provisions,
herein-after in that Behalf granted or contained
:
And whereas it
is
expedient that some of the Powers and Provisions of the said recited
Acts relating to the said Undertakers should be amended, extended,
and repealed
;
but the several Objects and Purposes aforesaid cannot'
be cff'ccted without the Authority of Parliament

And whereas the estimated Expence of making the said Jetty
Power
to
and Works, and

providing such Station or Coal Staiths and other

Forty thousand Pounds

be it enacted, That it shall

Creation
be lawful for the said Company
to
raise
by
the
Creation
of
new

Shares

additional Capital
Sum
of
Forty thousand Pounds orer and

or ’any Act or Acts to be passed during the present

IV.
And whereas the
Manchester and Leeds
Railway Company
Power
for
the
manc chest er

have agreed to subscribe towards the Formation of the said Works, if
authorized by Parliament
so
to do, the Sum of Twenty thousand
Railway
Pounds
;
be it therefore enacted, That the said
Manchester and Leeds
Company
to
Railway Company may and they are hereby empowered to subscribe
subscribe
;
towards the Undertaking hereby authorized, either in their own
Name
or in the Names or Name
of
any Persons or Person to be appointed
by them, to the Extent
so
agreed to be subscribed by them as aforesaid,
or to any
less
Extent.
V.
And
be
it enacted, That for such Purpose it shall be lawful for
and
to
raise
the said
Manchester and Leeds
Railway Company
to
raise
all
or any
