The Department for Employment and Learning makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by Articles 4(8) and 14(4) of the Higher Education (Northern Ireland) Order 2005(1).

In accordance with Article 4(11)(a)(i) and (b)(i) the Department is satisfied that the increases to the basic and higher amounts are no greater than are required to maintain the value of those amounts in real terms.

Citation and commencement

  1. These Regulations may be cited as the Student Fees (Amounts) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2011 and shall come into operation on 1 st September 2012.

    Increases to the prescribed basic and higher amounts

  2. The Student Fees (Amounts) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2005(2) shall be amended as provided by regulations 3 and 4.

  3. —(1) Regulation 3 shall be amended as provided by paragraphs (2) and (3).

    (2) For “£1 ,345” substitute “£1 ,380”.

    (3) For “£3 ,375” substitute “£3 ,465”.

  4. —(1) Regulation 4 shall be amended as provided by paragraphs (2) and (3).

    (2) For “£665” substitute “£680”.

    (3) For “£1 ,680” substitute “£1 ,725”.

    Revocation of the Student Fees (Amounts) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009

  5. The Student Fees (Amounts) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2011(3) are revoked.
