The Air Navigation (Restriction of Flying) (Her Majesty The Queen's Birthday Flypast) (Rehearsals) Regulations 2017

The Secretary of State has decided that it is necessary in the public interest to restrict flying in the specified parts of Southwold, Suffolk and in Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire by reason of the holding of rehearsals of a large formation flypast of aircraft, to commemorate Her Majesty The Queen's Birthday, that are scheduled to take place there.

The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by article 239 of the Air Navigation Order 2016( 1).

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Air Navigation (Restriction of Flying) (Her Majesty The Queen's Birthday Flypast) (Rehearsals) Regulations 2017 and come into force on 13th June 2017.

Interpretation

2. In regulation 3 the times referred to are Co-ordinated Universal Time( 2).

Restricted airspace

3.—(1) Subject to paragraph (4), between 1010 hours and 1200 hours on each day beginning with 13th June and ending on 15th June 2017, no aircraft is to fly below 10,000 feet above mean sea level within the area bounded by straight lines joining successively the following points—

(a) 525209N 0022026E,

(b) 523249N 0025026E,

(c) 522558N 0024447E,

(d) 520814N 0020909E,

(e) 520436N 0015041E,

(f) 522200N 0012000E, and

(g) 525209N 0022026E.

(2) Subject to paragraph (4), between 1135 hours and 1205 hours on each day beginning with 13th June and ending on 15th June 2017, no aircraft is to fly below 7,000 feet above mean sea level within the area bounded by straight lines joining successively the following points—

(a) 524111N 0003539E,

(b) 522608N 0012734E,

(c) 522237N 0012033E,

(d) 523636N 0003222E, and

(e) 524111N 0003539E.

(3) Subject to paragraph (4), between 1135 hours and 1215 hours on each day beginning with 13th June and ending on 15th June 2017, no aircraft is to fly below 3,000 feet above mean sea level within the area bounded by—

(a) straight lines joining successively the following points—

(i) 531514N 0002624W,

(ii) 530114N 0002114W,

(iii) 524111N 0003539E,

(iv) 523636N 0003222E,

(v) 530332N 0004246W,

(vi) 531459N 0004230W,

(vii) 531619N 0004034W, and

(b) the anticlockwise arc of a circle having a radius of 5 nautical miles whose centre is at 531828N 0003303W between 531619N 0004034W and 531514N 0002624W.

(4) Paragraphs (1) to (3) do not apply to any aircraft—

(a) flying in accordance with a clearance issued by Swanwick Military,

(b) flying in accordance with a clearance issued by the air traffic control unit at RAF Marham, RAF Waddington or RAF Cranwell,
