HEREAS the Staffordshire Potteries Water Board (in the
preamble to this Act called "the Board") were by the
Staffordshire Potteries Water Board Act 1924 (in the

preamble to this Act called " the Act of 1924 ") constituted and c. lxviii.
incorporated for the purpose of acquiring the water undertaking
of the Staffordshire Potteries Waterworks Company (in the
preamble to this Act called " the company ") and of supplying
water within the city of Stoke-on-Trent and parts of the county
of Stafford (in the preamble to this Act called " the limits of
supply ") and by the said Act it was provided that the powers
rights privileges authorities duties and obligations of the com-
pany under the Staffordshire Potteries Waterworks Acts 1853 to
1922 should be transferred to vested in and imposed on the
Bbard and that those Acts should be read and have effect as

if the. Board had been therein named instead of the company
islibject to certain exceptions and provisions mentioned in the
skid Act of 1924:

growing and the consumption of water has increased and is
increasing:

said section fifty-two of the said Act of 1853:

:And whereas the Board were empowered by the- Stafford-
shire Potteries Water Board Act 1937 to make waterworks as
described in subsection (1) of section 6 of that Act and by
section 9 of that Act the period for the completion of those
works was limited to seven years from the thirtieth day of Jtily
nineteen bundled and thirty-seven which period has since been
extended by orders made.by the Minister of Health in pursu-
ance of the powers conferred upon him by section 1 of the
3&4Geo. 6. Special Enactments (Extension of Time) Act 1940 and will

of the period above referred to and it is expedient further to
extend such period:
