REGIS. #**##****##Hfc$&*****^ Cap . 149* An Ad for making more effectual Provifion for light ing, watching, paving, cleaning, regulating, and improving the Streets and other public Places in the Parifh of Saint Luke, in the County of Mid- dlefex. [2d June 1810.] w HERE AS an Aft was pafled in the Eleventh Year of the Reig" of His prefent Majefty, intituled An AcT for paving and keep- 11G.3 ing in Repair the Streets, Lanes and Pqfages, in the Pariflo of an i Saint Luke, in the County of Middlefex ; for removing Objiruclions and Annoyances therein, and for widening the Pajfagss at the Weft End of Chif- well Street, and at the South End of Brick Lane, in thefaid Parifo; and for other Pur pofes therein mentioned; And whereas another Aft was pafled in1 the Thirty-third Year of the Reign of His prefent Majefty, intituled An A61 for the better lighting, cleanfing^ watching and regulating the 33G*3 Squares^ Streets, Lanesy Alleys^ Paffages, and Places within the Parifh of recite * Saint Luke, in the County ofMiddlefex, and for removing and preventing Nuifances, Annoyances and Encroachments within the fame: And whereas many of the Provifions of the faid Two feverai Afts are now found to be defective and inadequate to the feverai Purpofes for which they were in tended, and it is neceflary that the fame* fhould be altered, amended, and enlarged : And whereas it would much facilitate the" Execution of the Powers in the faid Two feverai Acts contained, and of the Powers now be come neceflary, if their Execution was intruded to Truftees for carrying nto Execution all the faid Powers, infteacl of being intruded to Com- \Lqc. fc? Cap.1^9. miffioners for managing the paving of the faid Parifli, and to Truftees for) managing the lighting, watching, and cleanfmg thereof; and if all the faid Powers and the Provifions for effecting the fame were granted by and contained in on^ Aft of Parliament: May it therefore pleafe Your Majefty that it may be ena&?d;$ md b$ it accordingly f n$ct$d, by the King's moft Excellent Mgjeftyt ^ and with the Advise and 'Ctonfent df the Lords Spiritual mi T^mpbt^l^d Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, Former Aa an(j by the At|ioil£y of the f|me, That from and after the paffing of this* repeae , A^ the faid Two feveral recited Afts, and all the feveral Powers and Authorities, M&He&r6fid Things therein contained, fhall be, and the fame is and are hereby repealed. All Conveyances executed and Annuities, &c, granted under the faid Ada confirmed and fecured. Arrears of former Rates may becol-kaed. Debts and Penalties recovered, and Contradi enforced. II. Provided always, and be it further enafted, That all Alignments* Leafes, Grants, and other Conveyances made or granted to or by any Per* fonor Perfons, Body or Bodies Politic, Corporate, or Collegiate, ot any other Perfons whomfoever, afting by virtue of or on the Credit oi* tinder the Authority of the faid Two feveral Afts, made in the Eleventh and Thirty-third Years of the Reign of His prefent Majefty, fhall be as good, valid, and effeftual, to all Intents and Purpofes whatfoever, as if the faid Two feveral Afts had not been repealed; and all Bonds, Mort gage?, Affignments, and Annuities given or granted as a Security for any Monies lent or advanced on the Credit of the faid Two feveral Afts, or either of them, in purfuance of and in compliance with the Powers therein contained, (hall be charged, and they are hereby refpeftively charged upon the Rates or Aflfeffnients herein directed to be made for the Purpofes of this Aft, and the Perfon or Perfons from Time to Time en titled to the fame refpeftively, fhall have, receive, and enjoy, and by virtue of this Aft be entitled to have, receive and enjoy, .all Intereft due and to grow due on fuch" Bonds, Mortgages, and Affignments refpeftively, (until the fame (hall be paid off and discharged as herein-after provided) and all Intereft due %$d to grow due on the faid refpeftive Annuities, out of the Rates and Affeflments herein direfted to be made, during the Term of the natural Lives of the Perfons for whofe Lives fuch Annuities re fpeftively were granted. III. And be it further enafted, That each and every Rate and Afleff- merit made and affeffed, and now due and payable, or to become due and payable, or ordered to be collefted and levied under and by virtue of the Authority of the faid recited Afts, fhall contime to be due and payable, and fhall and may be collefted and levied by fuch Ways and Means, and under fuch Reftriftiesns and Regulations, as any Rates or Affeflments direfted to be made id purfuance of this Aft, are direfted in and by this Aft to be collefted and levied ; and fhall be received and applied by the Truftees to be appointed by this Aft, to and for the Purpofes of this Aft; and alfo that all Debts and Penalties incurred and due, under and by virtue of the faid Two feveral recited Afts, from any Perfons whom- foever, fhall and may be demanded and recovered from fuch Perfons, and applied by the Truftees under the Powers and Authorities of this Aft for the Purpofes of this Aft; and alfo that all Contrafts or Agree ments heretofore entered into with any Perfon or Perfons whomfoever, under the Authority and in Execution of the faid Two feveral recited Afts, fhall continue and be valid and effeftual, and fhall and may be enforced by the Truftees to be appointed by virtue of this Aft as if entered 5oGEORGII III. G^.149. 3367 entered into by and with them the faid Truftees to be appointed by virtue #f this Aft. IV. And be it furthef enafted, That every Treafurer, Clerk, Colleftof, Officers aP- Conftable, Headborough, Watchman, Beadle, Infpeftor, Officer, and Ser^ pointed by Vant nominated and appointed by virtue of or afting under the Authority ^XalT of the faid recited Afts or either of them, fhall hold and enjoy his or their ^0id tjieir feveral and refpeftive Offices and Employments, together with the feveral Employment and refpeftive Salaries, Gratuities, and Allowances thereto annexed, until until amoved he or they fhall be removed therefrom refpeftively by the Truftees afting ^r in the Execution of this Aft; and every fuch Treafurer, Clerk, Colleftor, Conftable, Headborough, Watchman, Beadle, Infpeftor, and other Officer and Servant, fhall be fubjeft to the like Pains and Penalties, and Power of Removal, and to the like Rules and Regulations, and fhall be inverted With the fame Powers and Authorities, as if he or they had been nominated and appointed by virtue of this Aft. V. And be it further enafted, That the faid Parifh of Saint Lufa fhall, Parifh to be for the Purpofes of this Aft, be divided into Six Diftrifts or Liberties^ divided into namely, Golden Lane Liberty, White Crofs Street Liberty, Eaft Finjbury fj^^p^I' Liberty, Weft Finjbury Liberty, Old Street Liberty, and the City Road pofese0f "hu Liberty; as the fame is divided at the pafling of this Aft, for the Purpofe A&. pf collecting the Rates for the Relief of the Poor of the faid Parifh^ and under .and by virtue of a certain Aft paffed in the Forty-eighth Year of the Reign of His prefent Majefty, intituled An Aft for making more effeilual Provijton for maintaining, regulating, and employing the Poor of the Pariflj of Saint Luke, in the County ^Middlefex. nes. VI. And be it further enafted, That all Perfons qualified to be, and Veftrymen of being from Time to Time Veftrymen of the faid Parifh, according to the the Parifh for Provifions of the faid Act, paffed in the Forty-eighth Year of the Reign of thce PurPofes His prefent Majefty, fhall be the Veftrymen of the faid Parifh for the Time of tlns Aa* being, for the Purpofes of this Aft j provided they inhabit within fuch N . f Part of the faid Parifh as is included within the Limits and Operation of jj^Ar^ this Aft, and are rated or affefTed or liable to be rated or affeffed to one of the Rates or Affeflfments to be made by virtue of this Aft, but not otherwife; and that all Veftry Meetings under this Aft fhall be held in the Veftry of the Church, or in the Church of the faid Parifh ; and no Meeu ing or Veftry fhall be held by the faid Veftrymen, or any of them, for the Execution of this Aft, or any of the Powers thereof, (except the Firft Meeting hereinafter direfted, oh the Second Tuefday next after the pafling of this Aft, and the Adjourned Meeting of fuch Firft Meeting, and the Ad journed Meetings of rhe annual Meetings herein-after direfted), unlefs public Notice, figned by the Churchwarden or Churchwardens, or Five or more of the Truftees, or Nine or more Veftrymen of the faid Parifh, fhall have been put up on the Doors of the Church, and on fome pub lic Place in each Liberty of the faid Parifh, fpecifying the Purpofe of the Meeting Two Days at leaft before fuch Meeting, and unlefs public Notice thereof, figned as aforefaid, fhall alfo be firft read in the Church of the faid Parifh, by the Parifh Clerk, or the Perfon afting from Time to Time as Parifh Clerk, or his Deputy, as well in the Forenoon as in the Afternoon, immediately after Morning and Evening Prayers on-the Lord's Day next before fuch Meeting; which Notice the faid 'Parifh Clerk is hereby 33^8 Majority to determine. 5oGEORGII III. Cap.149. hereby enjoined.to read, or caufe to be read, under the Penalty of any Sum not exceeding Forty Shillings for every Negleft, to be levied and recovered in the fame Maimer as other Penalties and Forfeitures are direfted to be levied and recovered by this Aft, Complaint being made thereof by the Churchwarden or Churchwardens, or Two or more Truftees or Vestrymen of the faid Parifh, to any Juflice or Juftices of...
