HEREAS by ant made andpafled in the Forty-ninth Year of
the Reign of His prefent Majefty, intituled, An ASlfor making

mentioned,
in the

of Gloucefter, certain
Perfons therein named were united into One Body Corporate, by the
Name and Style of The Lydney and
Lidbrook
Railway
Company,
and were
thereby authorized and empowered to make, complete, and maintain»a
Railway or Train Road to be called The Lydney and Lidbrook Railway,
paffable for Waggons and other Carnages, and to be conltru&ed as therein
is mentioned, from the River Wye at or near to a Place called Lidbrook^
in the Parifh of Ruardean in the County of
Gloucefier,
to Miery Stocky
thence along the Eaftern Side of the Brook to Park End, and through
WhitemeadPark, in His Majefty'sForeft of
Dean,

County, and to make and maintain certain other Railways or Tram Roads
to branch from the fai4 Railway or Tram Road as in the faid Aft is
mentioned; and the faid Company of Proprietors were by the faid Aft
authorized and empowered to raife and contribute fuch Sums of Money
as in the faid Aft mentioned, for the making, completing, and maintain-
ing the faid Railway and collateral Branches: And whereas it appears
upon a Re-furvey that it will be expedient to vary and alter fome Parts of
the Line of the faid Main Railway or Tram Road, and to extend the faid
main Railway or Tram Road, and alfo to make and maintain a Bafin and
Canal communicating therewith, as herein-after is mentioned, which will
promote and facilitate the Objefts intended to be effefted by the faid re-
cited Aft; and it is defirable that the Corporate Name of the faid Com-
pany of Proprietors fhouid be adapted to the enlarged Works which they
are defirous to make; but the fame cannot be carried into Execution
without the Authority of Parliament: May it' therefore pleafe Your Ma-
jefty that it may be enafted, and be it enafted by the Kind's moft Excel-
lent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Content of the Lords Spiritual
and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, and
By the Authority of the fame, That, from and immediately after the
pafling this Aft, the Corporate Name and Style of the faid Company of
Proprietors fhall be The Severn and Wye Raikvay and Canal
Company^
inftead of the Name and Style by the faid recited Aft given to them, and
the Tickets to be given to the Subfcribers to the faid Undertaking, as
direfted by the faid recited Aft, and all other Afts and Proceedings of
the faid Company of Proprietors, (hall be altered and varied accordingly;
and the Works by the faid recited Aft* and by this prefent Aft9 autho*
rized to be made, fhall be called The Severn and Wye Railway and Canal\
inftead of the Name and Style by the faid recited Aft given.
II.
And be it further enafted f That the faid Company of Proprietors
fhall and they are hereby authorized and empowered from and immediately
after the pafling of this Aft, at their own proper Cofts and Charges, and
by and out of any Money already raifed or received, or hereafter to be
raifed or received, by virtue of the faid recited Aft, to vary and alter the
faid Main Railway or Tram Road as herein-after is mentioned; (that is to
fay^) inftead of the Line originally intended to be continued on the
Eaftern Side of the Upper Forge Pool to or near to the Middle Forge,
and there to crofs tlie Brook, to make, continue, and maintain the faid
Railway on the Weftern Side of the Upper Forge Pool and Middle Forge
Pool, and to crofs the-private Canal of the faid
Thomas
Pidcock,

How/ray, twice in the Line now marked out, and in part
cut and levelled down to the Store-houfe of the faid Thomas Pidcock,

Pidcock?
and

Homfray; and to go through fuch of the Lands
in the PofTeiTion of them or their Under-tenants as may be neceffary for
fuch Deviation, but fo that the faid Canal ihall be pafled by a Draw Bridge
to be tnade over the fame; and to make, maintain, continue, and extend
the faid Railway or Tram Road authorized to be made by the faid recited
Aft frqm or near Lidbrook aforefaid, to or near to a Place called or ufed as
the Cinder hill7 at Bifhvp's Wood Furnace, m the Parifh of Ruardean in the
County of
Gloucefter,
or Walfird in the County of Hereford, with neceffary
Wharfs at the Termination of the laft mentioned Branch; and alfo to
continue and extend the Main Railway or Tram Road authorized to be
