An A8: for veiling in the Juftices of the Peace for
the County of,Rutland the New Gaol and Bridewell
for that County, and the Ground purchased for the
Scites thereof, and for confirming certain Rates and
Proceedings relative thereto. [14th May 1811 /J
HEREAS the Common Gaol of and for the
County*
of Rui*
land,
fituate and being, in
Oakham,
in the faid County, was
by the Grand Jury at the General Seffions of Oyer and Ter-
miner, held at
Oakham,
in and for the faid County, on the Thirtieth
Day of July One thoufand eight hundred and two, prefented'and found
to-be unfafe and infecure^: And whereas the Juftices of the Peace afting
in and'for the faid County, affembled at the General Quarter Seffions of
the Peace, being only Five in Number, purfuant to fuch Prefentment,
proceeded to take into Confideration the State and Condition of the faid
Gaol, and thereupon it appeared to the faid Juftices to be neceflary to
ereft and build an entirely New Gaol and Bridewell, or Houfe of Cor*
re&ion,*of*and for the faid County; and it alfo appeared to the faid
Juftices that it would be
convenient,
to
purchafe Two Pieces or Parcels of
Land,-herein-after more particularly mentioned, fituate in the North
Fiildof Oakham aforefaid, within the Diftance of Two Miles from the
Scfite.bf theOlft Gaol, for the Purpofe of building the faid New Gaol and
Bridejfrell, or *Hdufe of Corre&ion thereon, by reafon that the Scite of
the Old Gaol was too circumfcribed, upon which to ere£ and build the
New Gaol and Bridewell, or Houfe of Corre&ion; and the faid Juftices
