An Act for the Appointment and Payment of
Parish Constables. [12thAugust 1842-]

J^HEREAS it will increase the Security of Persons and Pro-
perty if further Provision be made for the Appointment of fit
Persons to act as Constables in the several Parishes of
JEngland, and if Power be given to pay them for the Performance of
their Duties ; be it therefore enacted by the Queen's most Excellent
Majesty by and with the Advice and Consent of the Lords Spiritual
and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled,
and by the Authority of the same. That after the Expiration of justices to
Eighty Days and before the Expiration of One hundred Days next hold Spe-
