HERE AS the making and maintaining of a Canal for the Navi-
gation of Boats, Barges, and other Veffels, and the making and.
maintaining of a Railway or Tramroad for the Paffage of Wag-
gons and other Carriages from the River Burry9 at or near the Village of
Penclawdd, in the Parilh of Lanridian^ into the Townfhip or Borough of
Loughor, to or near to a Bridge there called King's Bridge, and into certain
Lands called Paper Mill

to Sir John Morris Baronet, near the Scite of a Fire Engine below the laid
Village of Penclawd4\ and alfo to make the following Collateral Branches
of Railways or Tramroads (that is to fay) a Branch to or from a Com-
mon or Wafte called

of Loughor in the laid County, which laid feveral Tenements belong to
his Grace the Duke of Beaufort; alfo another Branch to or from a Tene-
ment called Caergunnyddfawr, fituate in the faid Parifh of Swanfea, be-
longing to Sir John Stepney Baronet; alfo another Branch to or from a
Tenement called Carbadall, fituate in the faid Parifh of Swanfea, belonging
to Sir John Morris Baronet; alio another Branch tq of from a Tenement
called Cefngorwidd, fituate in the faid Parifh of Loughor, belonging to
Thomas Wyndham Efquire; alfo another Branch to or from a Tenement
called Cefngorwidd favor, fituate in the faid Parifh of Loughor, belonging
to Thomas Manfel Talbot Efquire ; alfo another Branch to or from a Tene-
ment called Tyrpont Gadley, fituate in the Parifh of Langevelach in the faid
County; alfo another Branch to or from a Tenement called Wecgfach,
fituate in the Parifh of Swanfea aforefaid, which Twp laft-mentioned Tene-
ments are the Property of'John Llewellyn Efquire ; alfo another Branch to
or from a Tenement called Killan, fituate in the faid Parifh of Lanridian,
belonging to Jenkin Davies Berrington Gentleman; alfo another Branch,
to or from a Tenement called P enefodyfach, fituate in the faid Parifh of
Loughor, belonging to William Phillips Gentleman} alfo another Branch
to or from a Tenement called Penderry fawr, fituate in the faid Parifh
of Langevelach, belonging to Francis Pinkney Gentleman; and alfo
another Branch to or from a Tenement called Cadley IJfa, fituate in the
faid Parifh of Langevelach, belonging to John Phillips Gentleman, all
in the faid County of Glamorgan, to join to and communicate with fuch
Main Canal and Railway or Tramroad, will open a Communication: with
feveral extenfive and valuable Coal and Culm Mines, Iron Mines, Limeftone
Quarries, and other Mines and Quarries, whereby the Carriage and Con-
veyance of Coal and Culm, Iron Ore, Limeftone, and other Minerals and
Commodities will be greatly facilitated, and will materially aflift the Agri-
culture of the Country throughout the Line and Neighbourhood
thereof,
and
will in other Refpefts be of great Public Utility ; but the fame cannot be
effe&ed without the Authority of Parliament: And whereas the feveral Per-
fons herein-after named are willing and defirous at their own Expence to
make and maintain the faid Canal and Cut, Railways or Tramroads: May it
therefore pleafe Your Majefty that it may be enacted; and be it enafiedby
the King's moll Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of
the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament

crofts George Walker^ Augujtns Warren^ Lewis Wolfe, Lucy Wall^ ,and
their feveral and refpe&ive Succeffors, Executors, Administrators, and
Afligns, together with fuch Perfon or Perfons as they fhall nominate and
appoint under their Hands and Seals, are and {ball he united into a Com-
pany for the better carrying on3 making compleating, and maintaining the
fetid intended Canal and Railway or Tramroad, and alfo for the carrying on,
fnaking, compleating, and maintaining a Collateral Navigable Cut or Canal,
and divers Collateral Branches of Railways or Tramroads, as herein
mentioned (if they fhall think proper) according to the Rules, Orders, and
Dire&ions herein-after expreffed and laid down, and (hall for that Purpofe
be one Body Politic and Corporate, by the Name of " The Pendawdd
Canal and Railway or Tramroad Company ;" and by that Name fhall have
perpetual Succefimn, and fhall have a Common Seal j and by that Name fhall
and may fue and be fued, and alfo fhall and may have Power and.
Authority" from and after the Firft Day of July One thoufand eight
hundred and eleven, on which Day thist fhall commence and
take Effeft, to purchafe and hold Lands and Hereditaments to
them, their Succeffors and Afligns, for the Ufe of the faid' Under*
taking, and the feveral Works hereby authorized to be made, without
Incurring any of the Penalties or Forfeitures of the Statute of Mortmain j
and alfo to fell the faid Lands and Hereditaments, or any Part or Parts
thereof again ; and the faid Company of Proprietors fhall be and are .hereby
authorized and empowered by themfelves, their Agents, Officers, Work-
men, and Servants, to make, compleat and maintain a Canal navigable and
paffable for Boats, Barges, and other Veffels, and a Railway or Tramroad
paffable for Waggons and other Carriages from the River Burry at or near
the Village of Pendawdd^ in the Parifh of Lanridian^ into theTownfhip or
Borough of Loughor ^ to or near to a Bridge there called King's Bridge, and
into certain Lands called Paper Mill

of Pendawdd and the faid laft-mentioned Tenement to join to and communi-
cate with fuch Main Canal, Railway, or Tramroad ; and alio to make the
following Collateral Branches of Railways or Tramroads (that is to fay), a
Branch to or from a certain Common or Wafte called
