The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Secretary of State for Social Services, acting jointly, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 4, 7 and 123 of the Food and Drugs Act 1955(a) as amended by section 4(1) of, and paragraph 3(1) of Schedule 4 to, the European Communities Acts 1972(b) and as read with the Secretary of State for Social Services Order 1968(c), and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following regulations, after consultation with such organisations as appear to them to be representative of interests substantially affected by the regulations and after reference to the Food Hygiene Advisory Council under section 82 of the Food and Drugs Act 1955 (in so far as the regulations are made in exercise of the powers conferred by the said section 7):—
Citation, commencement and interpretation
1.—(1) These regulations may be cited as the Miscellaneous Additives in Food (Amendment) Regulations 1975, and shall come into operation on 15th October 1975.
(2) In these regulations "the 1974 Regulations" means the Miscellaneous Additives in Food Regulations 1974(d) and "the 1970 Regulations" means the Labelling of Food Regulations 1970(e), as amended (f).
(3) The Interpretation Act 1889(g) shall apply to the interpretation of these regulations as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
Amendment of the 1974 Regulations
2.—(1) In this regulation a reference to a numbered schedule is a reference to the schedule so numbered in the 1974 Regulations.

(2) Part I of Schedule 1 shall be amended—
(a) by inserting immediately after the item relating to ammonium ferric citrate, green the following item:—
"Column 1 Column 2 Name of Miscellaneous Additive Serial number Dichlorodifluoromethane —"
(b) by substituting for the item relating to ammonium, sodium, potassium and calcium polyphosphates the following item:—
"Column 1 Column 2 Name of Miscellaneous Additive Serial number Ammonium, sodium, potassium and calcium...
