The Milk (Northern Ireland) (Amendment) Order, 1960




The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, in pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by Regulation 55AB of the Defence (General) Regulations, 1939, as having effect by virtue of section two of the Emergency Laws (Repeal) Act, 1959(a), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby orders as follows:—

1. This Order shall come into operation on the 3rd day of April, 1960; and may be cited as the Milk (Northern Ireland) (Amendment) Order, 1960.

2. The Milk (Northern Ireland) Order, 1958(b), as amended(c), shall be further amended as follows:—

(a) by substituting for Article 5 thereof the following Article:—


5. The provisions of this Order shall not apply to the supply of milk (a) by a caterer in the course of his catering business or (b) from an automatic vending machine.";

(b) by substituting for the Schedule thereto the Schedule to this Order.

3. The Milk (Northern Ireland) (Amendment) Order, 1959(c), is hereby revoked but without prejudice to any proceedings in respect of any contravention of the Milk (Northern Ireland) Order, 1958, as amended thereby.

(This Note is not part of the Order, but is intended to indicate its general purport.)

This amending Order—

(a) reduces by ½d. per pint, for the period from 3rd April to 1st October, 1960, inclusive, the maximum price of Grade A (T.T.) and Pasteurised milk on sale in Northern Ireland;

(b) exempts from maximum price control milk supplied from an automatic vending machine.
