HEREAS the Local Government Board have made the
Provisional Order set forth in the schedule hereto under
the provisions

1888:
And
whereas
it
is
requisite that the said Order should be
confirmed by Parliament
:
Be
it
therefore enacted
by
the
King’s most Excellent MajestJy
by and with the advice and consent
of
the
Lords
Spiritual
and
Temporal and Commons in this present Parliament assembled
and by the authority
of
the same as follows:--

The Order

altered and set out in

WHEREAS
by
the Local
Government Board are empowered to make a Provisional Order for altering
the boundary of any Borough or
for
the union
for
a11 or any purposes
of
the
said
Act
of
any Boroughs or
for
the constitution of any Borough having
a
population
of
not less than fifty thousand into a County Borough and
by such Order
to
divide or alter any ele~t~oral division;

And whereas by Section
55
of
the said Act
it
is
enacted that any

Order under that Act
for
uniting boroughs whether county boroughs
or
not may contain such provisions
as
may seem necessary
or
proper
for
regulating the division of the combined borough into wards the number
of councillors to be elected
for
each ward and the first election
of
the
couiicil
of
the combined borough and for providing for the clerks of the
peace cmoners town clerks and officers
of
the boroughs and the applica-
tion to them of the provision.: of the
said
Act
as
to existing officers and
for providing for all matters incidental
to
or consequential on the union
of the boroughs;
And whereas
a
part of the Urban District

Fenton which
is
in the
Administrative County
of
Stafford immediately adjoins the Borough
of
Hanley and is subject to the jurisdiction of the Urban District Council
of
Fenton
;

Stoke-on-
Trent
And whereas the Urban District of Tunetall which
is
in the Admini-
strative County
of
Stiifford and comprises the Parishes
of
Goldenhill and
Tunstall immediately adjoins the Borough
of
Burslem and is subject to the
jurisdiction of the Urban District Council
of
Tunstall
;
And whereas the Borough of Hanley
is
a
County Borough and each
of
the Boroughs
of
Burslem Longton and Stoke-upon-Trent in the
Adiuinistrative County
of
Stafford is
a
Borough within the meaning of the
said Act and the inhabitants of the said County Borough and Boroughs
are respectively bodies corporate by the names respectively
of
the Mayor
Aldenrien and Burgesses of the 13orough
of
Hanley the Mayor Aldermen
and BurgesSes
of
the Borough of Burslem the Mayor Aldermen and
Burgesses of the Borough
of
Longton and the
Mayor
Aldermen and
Burgesses
of
the Borough
of
Stoke-upon-Trent
;
And whereas the said Borough
of
Hanley is an Urban Sanitary District
of
which the Mayor Aldermen and Burgesses acting by the Council are
the Urhnn Sanitary Authority and each of the said Boroughs
of
Burelem
Longton and Stoke-upon-Trent is an Urban District of which the
Mayor
Aldermen and Burgesses acting by the Coiincil are the Urban District
Council
;
And whereas the said Borough of Hanley has
a
separate court
of
qumter sessions recorder coroner and police force and that Borough and
cnch of the said Boroughs
of
Burslem Longton and Stoke-upon-Trent has
a
separate commission
of
the peace;
And whereas the Urban Sanitary Authority
for
the Borough
of
Hanley have adopted the provisions of-
