An Act for enabling " The Imperial Life Insurance
Company" to alter the Mode of Appropriation
of Profits directed by their Deed of Settlement;
and for regulating legal Proceedings by or
against the Company. [21st June 184L]

HEREAS on or about the Twqjgty-eighth Day of November
One thousand eight hundred and twenty a Number of
Persons formed themselves into a Company or Society,
under the Name of" The Imperial Life Insurance Company/' and
subscribed or raised considerable Sums of Money in order to make or
effect Assurances on Lives and Survivorships, and to provide or effect
Endowments for Children; And whereas by their Deed of Settlement
or Copartnership, bearing Date on or about the said Twenty-eighth
Day of November One thousand eight hundred and twenty, divers
Laws,
Rules, Regulations, and Provisions were established for the
Conduct and Management of the Concerns of the said Company;
and it was thereby provided (amongst other things) that an Annual
General Court, with One Extraordinary General Court, or Two
successive Extraordinary General Courts, should have full Power to
make any new Laws, Rules, Regulations, and Provisions for the said
Company, or to amend, alter, or repeal all or any Part of their existing
[Local] 24 N Laws,
