An A& for enabling the Huddersjield Canal Company
to finiih and complete the Huddersjield Canal; and
for amending the A&, paffed in the Thirty-fourth
Year of the Reign of His prefent Majefty, for mak-
ing and maintaining the faid Huddersjield Canal.

HEREAS by an Aft, paffed in the Thirty-fourth Year of the Preamble.
Reign of His prefent Majefty, intituled, An Aft for making and w?e°- lII»
maintaining a Navigable Canal from and
out
of the Canal of Sir
John Ramfden, Baronet, at or near the Town o/'Huddersfield, in the Weft
Riding of the
County
of York,
to
join and
communicate
with the Canal Na-
vigation from Manchefter, to or near Afhton-under-Lyne and Oldham, at
or near the 'Town of Afhton-under-Lyne aforefaid, in the County Palatine
e/Lancafter, certain Perfons, arid their Succeffors, Executors, Admini-
strators, and AflignSj incorporated by the Name and Stile of The
Hud-
dersjield Canal
Company,
are authorized to make, complete, and maintain
a Canal, to be called The Huddersjiel Canal,, navigable and paffable for
Boats,
Barges, and other Veffels from and out of theCanal of Sir John
Ramfden, Baronet, at a certain Place between the King's Mill and the
Town of
Huddersjield,
in the Weft Riding of the County of York, to join
and communicate with the Canal Navigation from Manchefter, to or near
Afhton-under-Lyne and Oldham, in the County Palatine, of Lancafter, at
a certain Highway in the Town of Afhton-under-Lyne aforefaid, near and
leading to a Bridge called Duk'mfield Bridge ; and to raife and contribute
amongft themfelves a competent Sum of Money for making and com-

pleting the faid Huddersjield Canal, and other Works authorized to be
made by the faid Act, not exceeding in the Whole One hundered and
eighty-four thoufand,.Pounds, (except as therin-after is mentioned); and
in cafe the faid Sum mould be found infufficient for making, completing,
and maintaining the faid Huddersjield Canal, and other the Works thereby
authorized to be made, the faid Huddersfield Canal Company were alfo
enabled to raife and contribute amongft themfelves in the Manner in the
faid Ait mentioned; or by the Admiilion of new Subfcribers, any further
or other Sum of Money for completing and perfecting the faid Naviga-
tion, not exceeding Ninety thoufand Pounds; and in cafe the faid
Hud-
dersfield Canal Company mould be defirous of raifing the faid Sum of
Ninety thoufand Pounds, or any Part
therof,
by Mortgage of the faid
Undertaking, they were authorized to borrow and
take,
up at Intereft all
or any Part of the faid Sum of Ninety thoufand Pounds on Credit of the

faid Huddersjield Canal Company have been able to recover hath (together
with the Sum of Fourteen thoufand one hundred and eighty-two Pounds,
which is all the Money the faid Huddersfield Canal Company have been
able to borrow and take up at Intereil upon Mortgage on Credit of the
faid Navigation and Undertaking) been expended in the Profecution of
the Works of the faid Huddersfield Canal, and in carrying into Effect the
Powers of the faid Act,; and the faid
Huddersfield
Canal Company have
alfo incurred fundry other Debts in the Profecution of the faid Under-
Doubts have taking: And whereas the faid HuddersjieldCanal Company have
made,
very
ConiTru^n6 confiderable Progrefs in the Profecution of the faid Undertaking; but to
of theclaufc enable them to finifh the fame, and to difcharge the Debts by them con-

of Shares in the faid Huddersfield Canal: And whereas the faid recited
Act hath in other Refpeets been found defective, and the Powers- and
ProvifioTis thereof require to be in fome Refpe&s altered and amended':
May it therefore pleafe Your Majefty that it may be enacted ; and be
it enacted by the King's moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the. Advice
and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in
^ompanyiTiay this prefent Parliament aflembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That

Huddersjield
Canal Company, and
to
be
applied they are hereby required, at any General Aflembly to be held or convened
their
Debts
° agreeable to the Directions contained in the faid recited Act, or their Com-

mittee for the Time being, or Three or more of fuch Committee, from
Time to Time to make any Call or Calls for Money from the Proprietors
of the faid Huddersfield Canal, (not exceeding in the Whole the Sum of
Twenty Pounds, upon and in refpect of every Share in the faid Na-
vigation and Undertaking), for difcharging all and every Debt and Debts,
Sum and Sums of Money which are or fhaH become owing, pr payable
from or by the faid Huddersfield Canal Company, and for finifhing, com-
pleting,
