The Gas (Pension) (Amendment) Regulations, 195320thOctober 1953

The Minister of Fuel and Power, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section fifty-eight of the Gas Act, 1948(a), and of all other powers him enabling, hereby makes the following regulations:—
The Gas (Pension Scheme) Regulations, 1949
1. The Gas (Pension Scheme) Regulations, 1949(b), as amended by the Gas (Pension Scheme) (Amendment) Regulations, 1950(c), shall have effect subject to the modification that after paragraph (2) of regulation one (which authorises the establishment of pension schemes by Area Boards and the Gas Council) there shall be inserted the following paragraph—
"(3) Any Area Board or the Gas Council may for the purposes of paragraph (a) of subsection (1) aforesaid with the approval of the Minister participate in any pension scheme, other than a scheme established or maintained by any Area Board or the Council, and may for the purposes of any such scheme contribute to any pension fund or execute, maintain or make payments under any policy of insurance, bond, indemnity or other similar instrument."

2. The Gas (Pension Rights) Regulations, 1950(d), shall have effect subject to the modifications that in paragraph two of the schedule (which relates to modifications to which transferred schemes are to be subject) there shall be substituted—
(a) in sub-paragraph (1) for the words "in which the Area Board maintaining the transferred scheme participate" the words "in which the Area Board or Gas Council in whose employment he is participate";
(b) in sub-paragraph (5) for the words "the Area Board maintaining the transferred scheme" the words "the Area Board or Gas Council by whom the pension scheme concerned is established".
3. These regulations shall come into operation on the first day of November, nineteen hundred and fifty-three, and may be cited as the Gas (Pension) (Amendment) Regulations, 1953.
