An Act for making a Canal from the Droitwich
Canal at Droitwich in the County of Worcester,
to join the Worcester and Birmingham Canal at
or near Hanbury Wharf in the Parish of Han-
bury in the same County, and to be called "The
Droitwich Junction Canal," [28th May 1852.J
HERE AS the making of a Canal from the Droitwich Canal
at Droitwich in the County of Worcester^ to join the
Worcester and Birmingham Canal at or near Hanbury
Wharf in the Parish of Hanbury in the same County, would be of
great public Benefit: And whereas the Persons herein-after named,
together with other Persons, are willing, at their own Expense, to carry
such Undertaking into execution, and it is expedient that Powers
should be conferred upon them for that Purpose, and also Powers,
subject to the Restrictions and Provisions herein-after contained, of
leasing or selling the Undertaking to the Company of Proprietors
of the Worcester and Birmingham Canal; but the several Objects
aforesaid cannot be effected without the Authority of Parliament
May it therefore please Your Majesty that it may be enacted;
and be it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and
with the Advice and Consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal,
and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the
Authority of the same, as follows; (that is to say,)

The Droitwich Junction Canal Act, 1852,
I. That k'The Companies Clauses Consolidation Act, 1845," and
" The Lands Clauses Consolidation Act, 1345," shall be incorporated
with and form Part of this Act.
Short
Title.
II. That in citing this Act for any Purpose whatsoever it shall be
sufficient to use the Expression " The Droitwich Junction Canal

III.
That in addition to the Provisions in this Behalf contained
in the said " Companies Clauses Consolidation Act, 1845," and in the
said " Lands Clauses Consolidation Act, 1845," or either of them, the
following Words and Expressions, unless there be something in the
Context repugnant to such Construction, shall be held to have and
include the following Meanings; (namely,)
The Word " Toll" shall include all Tolls, Rates, and Dues :
The Word "Penalty" shall include all Penalties, Fines, and For-
feitures of a pecuniary Nature:
The Word " Goods " shall include all Goods, Wares, Commodities,
Merchandise, and Articles of every Description:
The Word " Boat" shall include all Barges, Vessels, and Canal and
River-going Craft of every Description. i
IV. That John Brearley Payn, William Mabson, Howard Luck-
mck, Joseph Gibbins, Frederick Isaac Welch, Isaac Lea, and Thomas
Wells Blakeway, and all other Persons who have already subscribed
or who shall hereafter subscribe to the Undertaking, and their Exe-
cutors and Administrators, Successors and Assigns respectively, shall
henceforth be united into a Company under the Name of " The
Droitwich Junction Canal Company," for the Purpose of making and
maintaining the Canal and Works herein-after particularly mentioned,
according to the Provisions of this Act and of the Acts incorporated
therewith, and for other the Purposes herein and in the said incor-
porated Acts mentioned or referred to, and by that Name shall be a
Body Corporate, with perpetual Succession and a Common Seal, and
have Power to purchase and hold Lands for the Purposes of the
Undertaking, subject to the Restrictions contained in this Act and in
the Acts incorporated therewith.
Number and
Amount of
Shares.
V. And whereas the estimated Expense of making the said Canal
is Twenty thousand Pounds : Be it enacted, That the Capital of the
Company shall be Twenty-four thousand Pounds.
VI.
That the Number of Shares into which the said Capital shall
be divided shall be One thousand two hundred Shares, and the
Amount of each Share shall be Twentv Pounds.
Calls.
VII.
That Four Pounds per Share shall be the greatest Amount of
any One Call which the Company may make on the Shareholders,
