An Act for the Improvement of the Township and
District of Dalkey in the Barony of Rathdown
and County of Dublin. [15th July 1867 J
HERE AS the Township of Dalkey in the Barony of
Rathdown
in the County of Dublin is a District in which
" The Towns Improvement {Ireland) Act, 1854," is in
full Force, and under that Act Commissioners for the Improvement
of the said Township have been elected and are still in Office: And
whereas the Population of said Township has of late Years greatly
increased and is increasing, and it is expedient that further and better
Regulations should be made for the lighting, paving, sewering,
draining, cleansing, and supplying said Township with Water; and
that Provision be made for the Erection of Two Piers or Landing
Places, with the proper Works and Approaches, at the Place known
as
Cootamore
Harbour, within the Limits of said Township, subject
to the Provisions in this Act contained : And whereas Plans and
Sections describing the Lines and Levels of those Piers and Landing
Places and Works, with a Book of Reference to the Plans, have been
deposited with the Clerk of the Peace for the County of Dublin :
And whereas it is desirable that the making and maintaining pf the
Roads, Footways, and Bridges within the Township should be

transferred from the Grand Jury of the County of
Dublin
to the said
Commissioners, and that the controlling of Fairs and Markets, and
otherwise improving and regulating the Township, should be vested
in them: And whereas the Objects aforesaid cannot be attained
without the Authority of Parliament: May it therefore please Your
Majesty that it may be enacted; and be it enacted by the Queen's
most Excellent Majesty, by and with the Advice and Consent of
the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present
Parliament assembled, and by the Authority of the same, as follows;
(that is to say,)
Short
Title.
1. This Act may for all Purposes
be
cited as " The Dalkey Town-
ship Act, 1867."
2.
"The Lands Clauses Consolidation Act, 1845," "The Lands
Clauses Consolidation Amendment Act, 18607 " The Markets and
Fairs Clauses Act, 1847," "The Gasworks Clauses Act, 1847,"
(provided that this Act shall not authorize the making of any
Gasworks,) " The Waterworks Clauses Act, 1847," Sections 13 to
19,
both inclusive, of the " Railways Clauses Act,
1863,"
and " The
Towns Improvement (Ireland) Act, 1854," and all Acts incorpo-
rated therewith, " Labourers Dwellings Act, 19 and 20 Victoria,
Cap.
55.," " Summary Jurisdiction (Ireland) Act, 14 and 15 Vic-
toria, Cap. 92. Sec. 15," (except where any of the Provisions of
those Acts respectively are expressly varied by this Act,) are hereby
incorporated with and form Part of this Act.
Interpreta- 3. In this Act the several Words and Expressions, to which by

of ^e ^cts wnolly or partially incorporated herewith Meanings are
assigned shall have the same respective Meanings, unless there -Jg&
something in the Subject or Context repugnant to such Construction :
The Expression " the Dublin Port and Docks Board
"
shall mean
the Corporation for preserving and improving the Port of Dublin,
and their Successors, whether incorporated by the same or any
other Name:
The Words " Work
"
and " Railway " in the

Railways Clauses
Act,
1863,"
shall mean respectively the "Piers" and "Works"
proposed by the Bill:
The Word " Town
"
shall mean and include for the Purposes of
this Act the Township of Dalkey and the Lands and Heredita-
ments comprised within the Boundaries
thereof,
already defined
under the Provisions of the " Towns Improvement (Ireland)
Act, 1854 ;" and wherever the Centre of any Road now forms
the Boundary of such Township the whole of such Road shall
be included in the said Township, save and except the Roads
which form the Boundary between the said Township and that of
Kingstown: - The
