(1) There shall be a body corporate to be known as the General Chiropractic Council (referred to in this Act as “the General Council”) .(2) It shall be the duty of the General Council to develop(3) The General Council shall have such other functions as are conferred on it by this Act.(4) F30The General Council shall be constituted as provided for by order of the Privy Council, subject to Part 1 of Schedule 1 (which relates to orders under this subsection and powers of the General Council) , which shall have effect.(4A) The over-arching objective of the General Council in exercising its functions is the protection of the public.to protect, promote and maintain the health, safety and well-being of the public;to promote and maintain public confidence in the profession of chiropractic; andto promote and maintain proper professional standards and conduct for members of that profession.the Education Committee;the Investigating Committee;the Professional Conduct Committee; andthe Health Committee.(6) The four committees are referred to in this Act as “the statutory committees”.(7) Each of the statutory committees shall have the functions conferred on it by or under this Act.(8) The General Council may establish such other committees as it considers appropriate in connection with the discharge of its functions.(9) Part II of Schedule 1 shall have effect with respect to the statutory committees.(10) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .(11) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .(12) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
