CHAPTER xl.
An Act to empower the urban district council of
A.D.
1935.
Baildon to construct additional waterworks to
make further and better provision for the im-
provement health and local government of the
district and for other
purposes.
[27th June 1935.]
W
HEREAS the urban district of Baildon (in this Act
referred to as " the district ") is an urban sanitary-
district within the meaning of the Public Health Act 1875
and an urban district within the meaning of the Local
Government Act 1933 and is under the management and
control of the urban district council of Baildon (in this
Act referred to as " the Council "):
And whereas the Council under the provisions of the
Public Health Acts and the Baildon Local Board Water
Act 1890 have provided reservoirs and other works for
the supply of water within their district:
And whereas the supply of water from the present
waterworks of the Council is inadequate to meet the
present and growing demands of the inhabitants of the
district :
And whereas by the agreement with the lord mayor
aldermen and citizens of the city of Bradford (in this
Act referred to as "the corporation") set forth in the
schedule to this Act the Council have subject to the
approval by Parliament of the said agreement acquired
the right to take certain underground water from certain
lands in the parish of Morton East and West in the rural
district of Keighley and the urban district of Bingley

1935. in the west riding of the county of York and to take
~ certain other waters from the corporation as by the said
agreement provided :
And whereas it is expedient that the said agreement
should be confirmed and that the Council should be
empowered to make and maintain new waterworks as
by this Act provided :
And whereas it is expedient that such further powers
with reference to their water undertaking as are contained
in this Act should be conferred upon the Council:
And whereas it is expedient that further and better
provision should be made with reference to streets
buildings sewers and drains infectious disease and
sanitary matters and otherwise for the health and local
government of the district and that the powers of the
Council in relation thereto should be enlarged and
extended :
And whereas it is expedient that the provisions with
regard to the finances of the district which are contained
in this Act should be made and that the Council should
be empowered to borrow money for the purposes of this
Act:
And whereas it is expedient that the other provisions
contained in this Act should be enacted :
And whereas the objects of this Act cannot be
attained without the authority of Parliament:
And whereas estimates have been prepared by the
Council of the expense of the works hereinafter mentioned
and such estimates are as follows :
The purchase of underground water rights £
of corporation 24,000
The construction of the Works Nos. 3 and
5 authorised by Part II of this Act... 15,120
The construction of the other works
authorised by Part II of this Act ... 11,945
The construction of pump-house plant and
machinery meter houses meters fil-
tration and sterilization plant ... 4,940
And whereas the several works included in such
estimates are permanent works and it is expedient that
the cost thereof should be spread over a term of years:

And whereas plans showing the lands required or A.D. 1935.
which may be taken or used compulsorily for the
purposes or under the powers of this Act such plans show-
ing the lines or situations of the works authorised by this
Act and sections showing the levels of such works with a
book of reference to such plans containing the names of
the owners and lessees or reputed owners and lessees and
of the occupiers of the said lands were duly deposited with
the clerk of the county council of the west riding of the
county of York and are in this Act respectively referred
to as the deposited plans sections and.book of reference :
And whereas in relation to the promotion of the Bill
for this Act the requirements of Local Government Act
1933 have been observed :
May it therefore please Your Majesty that it may
be enacted and be it enacted by the King's most Excellent
Majesty by and with the advice and consent of the Lords
Spiritual and Temporal and Commons in this present
Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same
as follows (that is to say):

PRELIMINARY.
1.—(1)
This Act may be cited as the Baildon Short and
Urban District Council Act 1935.

(2) The Baildon Local Board Water Act 1890 the
Baildon Order 1894 the Baildon Order 1929 and this
Act may be cited together as the Baildon Urban District
Council Acts and Orders 1890 to 1935.

This Act is divided into Parts as follows: Act divided
into Parts.
Part I.—Preliminary.
Part II.—Waterworks and lands.
Part III.—Water supply.
Part IV.—Streets buildings sewers and drains.
Part V.—Infectious disease and sanitary
provisions.
Part VI.—Financial provisions.
Part VII.—Miscellaneous provisions.
