CHAPTER cxxxii.
An Act to confirm a Provisional Order under AD-193°
the Private Legislation Procedure (Scotland)
Act 1899 relating to Aberdeen Corporation.
[1st August 1930.]

HEREAS the Provisional Order set forth in the
schedule hereunto annexed has after inquiry held
before Commissioners been made by one of His Majesty's
Principal Secretaries of State under the provisions of the
Private Legislation Procedure (Scotland) Act 1899 as

Parliament :
Be it therefore enacted by the King's most Excellent
Majesty by and with the advice and consent of the Lords
Spiritual and Temporal and Commons in this present
Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same
as follows :
1.
The Provisional Order contained in the schedule Confirmation
hereunto annexed is hereby confirmed. schedule.m
2.
This Act may be cited as the Aberdeen Corporation Short title.

1930. SCHEDULE.
ABERDEEN CORPORATION.
Provisional Order to authorise the Corporation of the city
and royal burgh of Aberdeen to make street improve-
ments new tramways and an extension of their electricity
ivories
railway and to confer further powers of making
town planning
schemes
for the city of licensing omni-
buses and regulating street traffic and of borrowing
money and to make further provision with respect to
the local government health and finance of the city and
for
other
purposes.
WHEREAS the lord provost magistrates and town
council of the city and royal burgh of Aberdeen
(hereinafter referred to as " the Corporation " and " the
city " respectively) are vested with the municipal and
police administration of the city and own and work
tramways and omnibuses and generate and supply
electricity:
And whereas it is expedient that the Corporation
should be empowered to make the street improvements
hereinafter described and to acquire land compulsorily
for that purpose and for the purpose of laying out
and redeveloping the areas adjoining the said street
improvements :
And whereas the said street improvements include
a new street which will provide a new and convenient
thoroughfare from the central parts of the city to the
seabeach and it is expedient to authorise the Corpora-
tion to construct tramways thereon in substitution for
existing tramways by which tramway communication is
now provided across the Queen's Links to the esplanade
and seabeach :
And whereas the esplanade extends from the river
Don to Footdee adjoining the river Dee for a distance of
more than two miles and the Corporation in the exercise
of the powers conferred on them by the Aberdeen Cor-
poration Orders 1907 and 1925 for the management of

the esplanade and links adjoining the seabeach have A.D. 1930.
made regulations restricting the classes of vehicles which
may pass along the esplanade and limiting the rate of
speed at which vehicles may move thereon :
And whereas it is expedient that the Corporation
should be authorised to provide and run on the esplanade
vehicles specially designed and adapted for the con-
veyance of passengers at a rate of speed consistent with
the safety of foot passengers on the esplanade :
And whereas it is expedient to make further provision
with respect to the licensing of omnibuses with respect
to stopping places and stands in the streets for omni-
buses and other vehicles and with respect to the regulation
of street traffic :
And whereas the Corporation were authorised by
the Aberdeen Corporation (Electricity Works Railway)
Order 1921 to make a railway along and on the level
of certain streets in the city from the Shore Road siding
on the Caledonian Railway to the electricity works of
the Corporation at Dee Village Road and the said
railway has been constructed and is used for the
conveyance of fuel and store? to the said electricity
works :
And whereas it is expedient that the Corporation
should be authorised to extend the said railway and to
acquire further lands adjoining the said electricity
works in order to provide additional accommodation for
the storage of coal and other materials for the purposes
of the electricity undertaking of the Corporation :
And whereas the Corporation are the town plannmg
authority for the city for the purpose of the Town Plannmg
(Scotland) Act 1925 and in exercise of their powers
under subsection (1) of section 2 of that Act the
Corporation have concurred with the local authorities of
districts adjoining the city in preparing a town planning
scheme for lands in the city and in the adjoining
districts and it is expedient that the Corporation should
be authorised to make town planning schemes for all
parts of the city notwithstanding that the lands therein
may have been developed :
And whereas it is expedient in order to preserve
and improve the amenity of the streets and open spaces
in the city to enact the provisions contained in this
