The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 16(1) of the Land Charges Act 1972 , hereby makes the following Rules:—

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1. These Rules may be cited as the Land Charges Rules 1974 and shall come into operation on 9 th September 1974.

2.—(1) The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply to the interpretation of these Rules as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.

(2) In these Rules, unless the context otherwise requires—

“the Act” means the Land Charges Act 1972 and “section” means section of the Act;

“application” includes requisition;

“county” includes Greater London;

“credit account” means an account authorised by the registrar for the purpose of providing cr...
